US Poultry for the Hong Kong market:

Revisions to the labeling requirements for Hong Kong (effective June 2010) may have a significant impact on sales of poultry products to Hong Kong. Weight tags and nutrition labels must be bi-lingual, as well as state the cholesterol, protein, energy, carbohydrate, sugar, fat, fatty acids, and sodium content. This makes the Hong Kong requirements much more stringent than the requirements in the US or other Asian countries, and will require new labels in order to serve this market.

In mid-2008, the Avian Influenza (AI) issue has had a significant impact on US poultry exports to Hong Kong. The delivery of whole turkeys to Hong Kong for the 2008 holiday season was hampered by the temporary ban put in place on Washington County in Arkansas. Several importers/retailers mentioned that they have been unable to secure whole turkeys for the 2008 holiday season even though the ban was lifted on September 22nd, 2008.
