North Carolina Returns to Cuba

On the trade servicing side, North Carolina re-established contacts with Cuban buyers and government officials after an absence of several years. Since Cuba’s buying agency is a government entity, it expects to have a government to government dialog. NCDA’s participation put North Carolina back on Alimport’s (Cuba’s government run buying agency) radar screen. We expect this will in turn lead to increased sales in the future. In addition, valuable market information was gained in several areas, including apples, grocery items, grain sales, pork and poultry.

Speaking to traders at the event, it was determined that attending the show is on one side the ticket you have to buy to do business in Cuba. On the other side, it is considered a guaranteed sale because Alimport wants to establish as many contacts with the USA as possible.
